You might know this already, but I'm kinda borderline obsessed with the Japanese pop band, Arashi. I've flown to Japan to see their concerts a few times but it's really tough to get tickets. I mean really tough. You need to a member of their fan club and apply to go into a ballot. But they only do a small number of concerts each year and there are over a million members in the fan club. That's really small odds of getting tickets.
Every time I've seen them, I've had to buy tickets off scalpers online and they are expensive, really expensive.
This year I decided I'd only go to the concert if I won tickets in the ballot. As well as the expense, there is always the worry that, after travelling all that way, someone will be overzealous about their job and do a name check on the door, kicking you and your scalped ticket out the door.
Yesterday, the ballot results were drawn. I sat at my computer all day, pressing refresh on my email.
I didn't get tickets BUT I'd arranged with a friend that we'd put each other on our ballots (you can get up to 4 tickets) and she won! Much excitement was on display in our house last night... and a few tears.
So, I'm off to Osaka in November. I've got my flight there, still trying to work out the flight back.
Do I go to Tokyo for a week after Osaka or try to minimise my holiday spending?
