This weekend, the local show was on. I guess it's what you call a county fair in the US. Not sure what it's called elsewhere.
As far as shows go, it was pretty small. A handful of ride, mostly of the inflatable variety and a couple of vans selling food. I wanted to buy a show bag but there was only place selling them and they were $35 each!!! Full of toys and crap. I wanted the ones that are cheap and have chocolate in them.
The highlight was the industrial hall. I'd planned to enter the decorated cakes section but didn't. When I saw the level of the winning entries, I was disappointed I hadn't made the effort. I don't want to disparage people's hard work but I also don't think a cake should win the decorated section using commercially bought cake decorations.
The decorated gum boots were amazing as were the kid's animals made out of vegetables. The kid's crafts were really fun to check out.
After checking out all the cooking and produce, Mum and I wanted over to the local Lions Club stall. We got really sucked into this lucky dip game they had. You buy the ticket and open it up to find out your prize. We had to keep playing because we want to win bags of spuds. Yeah, we dream big. We both won goodie bags with some really random stuff in them but did manage to get 3 bags of spuds in the end and 5 bags of onions!
By then, the light drizzle of the day had turned to definite rain so we got some food and headed home.
