I'm currently using a Samsung point and shoot camera. It has some functionality beyond the automatic mode and was quite nice to use when I first got it but lately, it's been a pain in the butt.
There's something wrong with it. There's a dial on top where you change the mode from Auto to Program to an assortment of other options. When I turn the camera on, it seems to cycle through those options as though I'm turning the dial so it can take from seconds to minutes for it to come right.
I called the Samsung help line and they went through some troubleshooting with me but it did nothing to fix the issue. I can take it to a service centre but that seems like a huge lot of mucking around. In the meantime, I don't have minutes for my camera to sort itself out. I have to take photos of dogs, and these dogs don't stay cute for that long!
My point is that I'm in the market for a new camera. I've been told that the Panasonic Lumix is a good one, especially the pricier models with a viewfinder not just the back screen. I don't want to go up to a DSLR because I have qualms about lugging a whole bunch of lens and shit around with me and, to be honest, I'd lazily just end up using one lens anyway, defeating the whole purpose.
Any recommendations or brands to avoid. Well, other than Samsung. I'm very over Samsung at the moment. I had a Samsung laptop, tablet, phone and camera and they all went shonky around the same time!
We've had rain of Biblical proportions here in Tasmania. People are being evacuated from their homes in parts of the state. Luckily, we only had one bad day here and it's been decentish weather since.
I've made some changes to my site, including adding a places I've stayed page. So far, I've only included places in Japan because I'm on super slow internet here and it takes forever to do. I've only included places I've really loved and would recommend to a friend because it can be overwhelming going on a booking site and getting hundreds of options without knowing anything.
